 Cemagref, Montpellier Regional Centre |
Cemagref is a public research institute that targets results directly useable in land and water management. The goal is to produce new knowledge and technical innovations for use by managers, decision-makers and companies in providing answers to the specific questions raised by society concerning resource management, land use and development. Seeing the integration of social sciences, behavioural sciences and physical sciences as the key to sustainable management, Cemagref focuses in particular on these three topics:
- The development of methods, tools and expertise in environmental science: building of knowledge on environmental systems (favouring medium-scale and integrated approaches).
- The exploration of links between the sustainable management of land and of water: developing research on the role of water in land dynamics, considering the governance issues raised on different scales by water management.
- The strengthening and structuring of research on certain hazards: forest fires, floods and droughts, avalanches and landslides, agricultural pollutions, emerging pollution on natural environments, hydraulic infrastructures breakage, water networks risks, risks related to the use of agricultural equipment, food preservation hazards.
